Have a Food Bucket List? Check Out Captain George’s Seafood Restaurant!

While on our Myrtle Beach vacation, all my boyfriend Marc wanted to do was to eat at a buffet. “That’s what you DO on vacation!” He insisted—it wasn’t a vacation without the experience. Since it was a present for my Mom and also Marc’s first time in Myrtle Beach, I tried to pick a really nice seafood buffet restaurant. I read a blog post from Keynotes from Kennedy (check it out here) and she recommended Captain George’s Seafood Restaurant. She was totally right! What a great recommendation! 🙂

First of all, before I get into the restaurant review, I wanted to give a huge thank you to everyone who has followed my blog! From starting my blog in July, I have surpassed 100 followers! I’m officially at the 124 follower mark and I am so thankful for everyone’s readership! After all, this is why I’m blogging–for the opportunity to share my adventures and exchange conversation with readers while hopefully answering questions and concerns about travel experiences! So one last time, thank you so much for joining the journey with me! 🙂

Captain George’s is a little pricey (around $35 per person without tax), but what the heck—we were on vacation! So we splurged. And it was delicious! The restaurant is HUGE and upon entering there was a long line. They separate the lines into parties of five or more and parties of four or under. Despite the extremely long line, we had no wait! (We were a party of three.) The interior is very elegant sea captain décor and the buffet consists of 5-6 bars that are built to look like ships! It looks so amazing and just makes the buffet experience that much cooler 🙂

We tried a lot of the options between the three of us. Some of the highlights for me included trying some new things like the Cajun crab legs , the fried oysters, Oysters Rockefeller, steamed mussels, and trying some not so new things like the macaroni and cheese and French fries (I get them at every buffet)! Marc and I were surprised that, though odd looking, we really enjoyed the fried oysters. My mom was a huge fan of the fried tilapia. I also really developed a love for Oysters Rockefeller 🙂 I got to check so many things off of my food to try on my bucket list and we all left full and content. The wait staff treated us with impeccable consideration and felt like we were given a five star dining experience!

Here is a list of what they typically offer at their buffet stations:
